Terms of Use
This is what you should know and agree to before starting to use Give and Live.
The basics
Give and Live is a free, non-commercial web- and WhatsApp-driven application. It is run by a very small team of private individuals, not a registered company.
The service is provided as is, on a best-effort basis. We make no guarantees about availability, fitness for purpose, or continued operation. We are not liable for losses arising from use of the service.
Treat other members with respect and do not put anyone in danger. Do not attempt to abuse the service in any way. We reserve the right to remove accounts that are in violation.
Seeds are an internal accounting unit, not money. They cannot be bought, sold, or converted. If the service is discontinued, seeds cease to exist. You can keep your gifts though!
Items change hands directly between members. If something doesn't show up, isn't what you expected, or the meetup goes sideways, that is between you and the other member. Give and Live does not verify members, inspect items, mediate disputes, or provide insurance for handoffs. If you give something away, it is no longer yours, and you do not have any right to get it back, nor control it in any way.
To use the service you need a working WhatsApp phone number. Account creation is free. You may delete your account at any time.
Your privacy
"We value your privacy" is a cliché, but on Give and Live we actually don't set or read any cookies1. The only personal data we collect when you sign up is your phone number. We need to point out that the WhatsApp messages between you and Give and Live are not end-to-end encrypted, and we store a certain amount of recent messages unencrypted on our servers to help with running the service smoothly for you, so do not share personal or sensitive information with us. Some of your messages may also be processed by a third-party large language model so the bot can help answer general questions.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
The bot in your WhatsApp chat is partly powered by a large language model. Its answers do not necessarily represent the opinions or facts of Give and Live, and may be wrong or out of date. Use them as a starting point, not as authoritative — especially for anything specific to your account, community, or transactions.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the WhatsApp channel.
